Sewing instructions

General steps to sew this garment. Seam allowance is 1 cm (3/8") unless stated otherwise.

Supplies

  • Knit fabric (jersey, interlock or similar)
  • Matching thread and the right needle
  1. Prewash and press your fabric before cutting so it will not shrink after sewing.
  2. Print the pattern at 100%, check the test square and cut the pieces following the cutting list. Transfer notches, darts and button marks.
  3. Sew knits with a serger or a stretch stitch (narrow zigzag) and a ballpoint needle.
  4. Sew the darts from the edge to the point, tie off without backstitching and press them toward the center.
  5. Join front and back at the shoulders, right sides together. You can stabilize the seam with clear elastic or a strip of selvage.
  6. Prepare the knit bindings: fold in half, sew to the edge with slight stretch, turn them to the inside and topstitch from the right side.
  7. Sew the side seams right sides together and press open or finish the allowances.
  8. Fold up the hems (sleeves and body) and stitch with a twin needle or zigzag so they keep their stretch.
